Tungsten Carbide Thermowells in Challenging Temperature measurement Applications.
Thermowells are used extensively throughout the Power, Process and Petrochemical industries to protect the sensors from the process fluid and to enable servicing, or replacement, of sensors without the need for plant shut down.
Tungsten carbide contains equal parts of tungsten and carbon atoms as a fine gray powder, pressed and formed into shapes through a process called sintering for use in industrial machinery, cutting tools, abrasives etc.
These thermowells are ideally suited for use in very abrasive environment such as in air preheaters & coal mills of coal based power plants, mill classifier, pulveriser outlet, steam generation units, for temperature measurement of coal and air mixture.
In its monocarbide form, tungsten carbide is hardest and its impact resistance, toughness, and resistance to galling/abrasions/erosions are exceptional, lasting up to 100 times longer than steel in extreme conditions making it durable for coal applications on a High Pressure and Temperature environment.
